What is it?
How would a scarf of your own DNA look like? Iona Inglesky came on the idea to start a own clothing line during her study at the Royal College of Art in  London. She was fascinated by family trees and the use of material to express identity. That is how she came up with the idea to create unique designs based on someones DNA. This year she launched her first line whith remarkable colour scarfs under the name ‘Dot One’. If you are interested, Dot One will send you a package so you can take your own DNA from inside your mouth. After you send the package back to Dot One, they can transformate your DNA into a customised scarf based on our own DNA.

Why is it cool?
It is cool because families can get a scarf from their own identity and compare it with each other (is my brother really my brother? ;). Inglesby wants to take this science a step further to bring it to a targetgroup.  This coolhunt fits in the trend theme’s of transparation and the trend theme ‘God mode’. God mode stands for breakable innovative products in the medical world (extendlimits, 2015). This concept helps to get connected with yourself (your own DNA) and even with your family. It is a cool innovative idea to get a scarf that is based on your DNA, because its for sure that you will never see anybody with the same scarf as you have. #individualization

Conclusion
The DNA scarf is a new innovative transparant idea that is maybe just the first step in combining science with fashion. People can dress themselves as what they really are, based on their DNA.
